High School Syllabus
Students will learn the rules, skills, and be able to actively participate in some of the following activities throughout the semester:

Track & Field

Grading
Grades are determined by a students performance in the following categories, with percentages in parenthesis.
Grades are not given, they are EARNED!! Be sure to look at the scoring rubric page.
Participation
(50%): This is an active class, both mentally and physically. Strong effort and consistent participation are expected.
FitnessGram
(20%): The FitnessGram is a fitness test that measures aerobic capacity, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility and body mass index. Students are not graded on their individual scores but rather if they perform the test to the best of their abilities.
Fitness & Skill Assessment
(20%) Skill assessments will occur frequently within each sport/activity.
Mile Run
(10%): As part of the class, each student will be asked to run the mile at least once a week. This is part of core fitness for the class. They will be timed and are asked to try to work so as to improve their times as the year progresses.
Non-Suits
If as student has four non-suits their grade will be lowered one grade level.
If a student has five plus non-suits they will automatically fail the class.
Non-Suits can be made up by running the mile before or after school. The students must make an appointment with the teacher to set a date and time.
